The Chair People Terms & Conditions 2025 

So much more than an online store, we are a business built and grown from genuine ethics with a strong customer service focus. We value our customers, and invest into your individual needs to help and guide you along the way; -providing many services at no charge to you - design advice, fabric samples, wood samples and our Bum Test. We recommend you take advantage of our services prior to ordering. Whether it is 1 chair for the home office or 20 chairs for your formal dining room always assuring you of our best attention. We do not have exaggerated prices with discounts or gimmicks (we will not offer these on 3rd party sites). We calculate and offer bespoke quoting based on the quantity of models of furniture the leg finish, fabric placements if single or combination, the quantity required for the areas if plain, pattern, leather, the fabric brand, design, collection, delivered to your home. Every element of this will change the bespoke pricing.

Data & how we use Personal Information

We do not share your personal information with anyone outside our company other than companies we work with which provide services. Fabric houses to post samples, the banking system used to receive payment, external reviews, upon request external carriers.

Images

The images on our site are for illustrative purposes only. Although we have made every effort to display the colours accurately, we cannot guarantee that your device will display the colours accurately or reflect the colour of the image. Stripe, check & pattern fabrics may not be cut & upholstered exactly as depicted on this website.

Design Advice

Your design advisor will collaborate with you and ask questions to ensure that you have the best fit for your home and your needs, such as furniture style, main function or purpose, preference of fabric with colour, texture and if anti-staining is necessary. We may ask for pictures or samples of the current or proposed scheme to help us better understand and envisage your requirements.

Fabric Samples

You can request fabric samples through a design advisor, these will be posted to your home. This is the best way to truly see the fabrics texture, and colour and compare it against your current décor.

(The fabric houses limit these to 6 samples per fabric house). While the fabric houses try to ensure that the Products are as similar as possible to those displayed on-line or through fabric samples, there may be natural variations & even dye batch variation.

Fabrics

Natural characteristics are not faults. Linens and weaves are slubby and can have bobbling.

Leathers each hide is unique as a natural product, leather will often display traces of its past such as brand marks, scars, growth lines, veins, and areas of differing fibre density. These hallmarks in no way detract from its natural beauty. As a product of nature, each hide is unique.

Velvets and chenille’s can have pile flattening and pile distortion this is not an indication of wear.

Wood Swatches

You can request wood samples through a design advisor, these will be posted to your home. This is the best way to truly see the wood finish colour and compare it against your current décor. While the manufacturing factories try to ensure that the Products ordered are as similar as possible to those displayed on-line or through the wood samples, there may be variations due to wood being a natural product & different batches.

Prices - Website

All prices published are correct at the time of publish and inclusive of VAT at the current rate but exclude delivery and installation charges unless otherwise stated. “Prices from” on each model is calculated from the model of furniture in an entry level plain fabric, other prices can be obtained through a design advisor.

Bespoke Quoting

Our design advisor will calculate and offer bespoke quoting based on the quantity of models of furniture the leg finish, fabric placements if single or combination, the quantity required for the areas if plain, pattern, leather, the fabric brand, design, collection, delivered to your home. Every element of this will change the bespoke pricing. All prices quoted unless otherwise stated are applicable for 30 days based on the parameters quoted.

Care Guides

Design advisors will guide you along the way to ensure the products that you like are the best fit for your home and may suggest alternatives if they are a high traffic area. We will provide information such as rub tests, cleaning guides, and technical information to enable you to make the right choices for your designs.

Gliders

Gliders are those invisible bits at the bottom of chair/bar legs that provide protection for the floor below them. Our furniture is fitted as standard with plastic gliders as they last longer and suit most floors.

All glides can wear out and should be checked regularly for wear and tear & replaced where necessary.

You can request not to have gliders on your order at quote/order stage. If you prefer to fit your own slider/glider, things to consider are all wear & tear aspects of the chair/barstool and the flooring type where they reside. Such as Size of product, weight of product, load bearing weight, how often used & moved, flooring type solid, engineered, tiled, laminate, carpet, vinyl. Moisture, spillages, cleaning.

Lead time guide will be advised at quote stage based on your bespoke items, as a general guide made to order furniture is delivered within 11-16 weeks from order confirmation.

Depending on the item’s weight, size, quantities, and delivery destination alternative carrier services may be used to deliver your order at different charges.

The Bum Test

This is our unique service offered if needed towards the end of your customer journey, where we come to your home with a selection of Barstools or Chairs of your choice to see the size weight style of product. We cover the post codes displayed in the map, booking most Bum Tests within a 2-week timescale alongside deliveries,

offering a day/date and time window our driver can be with you. If you live within the post code area and would like to fast track this service to receive it sooner it may be possible for a nonrefundable charge of £95 which is deducted at order stage.

On the day of the Bum Test, you do not need to wait at home we are aware of busy schedules so our driver will text when he is 1 hour away.

Ordering

** MADE TO ORDER – NO CHANGES – NO CANCELLATIONS- NO REFUNDS**

Orders are bespoke made to order to the customer specification requested; we do not accept changes or cancellations after order placement. Orders are none refundable unless faulty/damaged subject to manufacturer guarantee.

Payment Terms

Our general Terms we don’t offer credit for bespoke made to order items we require 100% payment in full, on the occasion we do offer 50/50 the terms are set out below.

Deposit Payment We require 50% of the total amount in cleared funds, as a non-refundable deposit of order to confirm the specification and process through to production. **Please read thoroughly the full set of terms and conditions prior to payment, as any payment received means you have accepted the terms and conditions of sale. Preferred payment is by card or bank transfer.

Balance Payment.

Are required by the Friday date shown at order, after this period interest costs will be charge at 2.5% inc VAT of the balance remaining on a weekly basis, until the goods are paid for in full. (Weeks run from Saturday to Friday and will be charged at a full week's rate).

Made to Order - Lead Times

• General made to order furniture delivered within 11-16 weeks from order confirmation

* Lead times are subject to and dictated by many factors: - The time of year, the producing factory, production capacity, Fabric availability, fabric delivery, any holidays, and customer acceptance of offered delivery date. Remote delivery regions may slightly extend this or any other factors outside of our control.

• upon quoting or acceptance and processing of your order we will provide you with a week that our home delivery Team will contact you to arrange delivery.

• Specific delivery dates/times cannot be booked when placing your order or during the manufacturing process.

• We (The Chair People) are not liable for any delays advised by suppliers, the manufacturing factories, fabric houses, transport. In the unlikely event of a delay you (the customer) will be updated and the earliest available opportunity and kept updated there from. failures in delivery if access cannot be gained to the delivery address stated on the agreed delivery date or under any other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Additional delivery charges may also be incurred.


Made to Order - Outside Standard Terms of Sale / Fabric Delay

If you have placed an order without prior checking lead times with the office, fabrics can be out of stock, and this may extend the standard lead times. If this does happen, we will contact you to discuss what you would like to do.

Accept lead time offered.

Change your fabric for an alternative which would be available within the lead time desired.

Cancel your order and receive a full refund.


ALL ITEMS ARE QC CHECKED PRIOR TO DELIVERY & ONLY DELIVERED WHEN PASSED INSPECTION.

Delivery – Our White Glove Service

We charge a fixed fee of just £95 for delivery to most post code areas. This excludes some of the more remote post code regions and areas that are not on our normal delivery routes. We have our own drivers and deliver our own goods wherever possible.

Upon acceptance and processing of your order we will provide you with an Order confirmation via email, advising an estimated week that our home delivery Team will contact you to arrange delivery.

The delivery team will contact you to offer the earliest the delivery can be with you after receiving the schedule from production advising furniture being available from The Chair People holding warehouse.

Our delivery team offer a date and time with a 2-hour time slot via email.

On acceptance of delivery, on the day of your delivery you are contacted 1 hour prior to the driver being at your home.


Our delivery driver will bring your order into your home to a ground floor room of your choice, it will be unwrapped for your inspection. You must check the condition of the Products upon delivery and inform the driver of any defects or problems with the Products at that time. The driver will direct all queries at this stage to us and we will endeavour to agree a means of curing such defects or problems with you. *We cannot be held responsible for any damage found on your furniture after delivery if you do not allow us to unwrap it for your inspection. The driver will take away all packaging.

If you are unable, for whatever reason, to take delivery of your Products on the confirmed delivery date, we reserve the right to charge you an additional for any subsequent deliveries.

External carriers

The more remote post code regions and areas that are not on our normal delivery routes. Additional fees may apply for these addresses.

Depending on the item’s weight, size, quantities, and delivery destination alternative carrier services may be used to deliver your order at different charges.

DAMAGES

1. Visual packaging damage

Must be signed for as damaged on the carrier paperwork at the time of the delivery for “The Chair People” to be able to make a claim for any replacement.

2. Product damaged/faulty and the packaging is all-ok.

Customers are responsible for checking the goods at the time of delivery.

*We cannot be held responsible for any damage found on your furniture after delivery if you do not unwrap it for inspection and report it within 24 hours to us.

Guarantee - Manufacturing Faults (from 1st July 2017)

5-year guarantee on made to order products, excludes gliders, misuse or wear and tear. The guarantee cannot be transferred.
